Rangemaster enters four in one tap market

August 29, 2016

After extensive research into the multi purpose tap market, Rangemaster is launching the Geo 4 in 1. The tap is designed to overcome problems such as spitting and scaling and has a unique safety feature. The tap will be sold both via distribution and direct to retail with impressive back up in the form of a home delivery and installation service, easy ordering of descaler and filter cartridges and a dedicated website packed with information for the consumer.

“The hot tap market is a growth area that we wanted to be in – but we wanted to be there with a product that would meet our reputation for quality, safety and reliability,” explains Rangemaster Sales Director Mark Davison.

“The market is currently around 50,000 units a year and of these about 40 percent are stand alone hot only –popular because of the lower price and because they can be retro fitted. Three and four in one taps make up the rest of the market and it is forecast that part of the predicted six percent growth in kitchen value will come from this sector. Adding a four in one tap to our product range means we can now offer our customers the complete kitchen collection including sinks, all types of tap, range cooking, refrigeration, built in and extraction.”

geotap-boiling.jpgThe tap delivers cold, hot, filtered cold and 98oC water and features a magnetic hot fob that has to be in place before the 98oC water can be dispensed. “This system is far safer than a switch or lever,” says Mark, “as children and other vulnerable people can’t learn how to do it just by watching, The fob can be kept in a secure place ready for use when needed. Two fobs are supplied with each tap and spares are available. Keeping the temperature to 98oC is perfect for good, full flavour tea and coffee and also avoids the danger of spitting which happens at 100oC because of bubbles in the water. It also means the GEO system has gained WRAS approval”

There are two tap styles to choose from – Classic for a traditional look and Trend which is a contemporary design.

The hot water comes from a three litre interactive boiler that can cope with 104 cups of tea or coffee per hour. Water is filtered before it goes into the boiler via a cartridge that has a high quality solid 54 micron membrane. As well as removing the deposits that cause limescale the filter also gets rid of unpleasant tastes and odours, heavy metals and chemicals. This combined with an adjustment setting that allows the user to adapt for local water hardness reduces scaling, cutting the need for descaling down to around once a year. The boiler display indicates when descaling or a new filter cartridge is needed.  The boiler fits easily into a 500mm base unit.
