Methven, the global designer and manufacturer of premium showers and tapware, is celebrating another award win and an increased presence in Europe.

The brand’s Aurajet® Aio Overhead Shower won gold in the Best Bathroom category at this year’s House Beautiful Awards.

Across 17 categories, the House Beautiful Awards celebrate the best of homeware quality, design and innovation from fabrics to furniture, kitchens to bathrooms, and wall coverings to white goods. The winning products were selected by a panel of expert and celebrity judges, which included John Rocha, Sebastian Conran, Vanessa Arbuthnott, Lisa Stickley, Clarissa Hulse and DIY experts Jo Behari, Nick Knowles and Tommy Walsh.

The award win comes hot on the heels of a new contract with Europe’s largest up-market department store group, El Corte Ingles. The deal will see its Aio handsets being stocked in 70 department stores across Spain and Portugal.

Methven made its first moves into Europe this year and now has presence in Spain, Portugal, France and Belgium. The brand will display a selection of Aurajet products at the Artibat exhibition in Rennes, France, later this month.

Martin Walker, CEO of Methven UK, said: “2016 has been another exciting year for Methven so far and these latest developments are a reflection of how the brand is growing in strength and stature.

“To win a prestigious consumer award such as House Beautiful is a great boost for us and we received excellent feedback from some of the celebrities and judges at the ceremony.

“Our move into Europe is gathering pace and we are particularly excited to be building a presence in both the trade and consumer sectors in these key countries.”

Methven developed the innovative Aurajet range following extensive research into consumer preferences, taking the science of showering to new levels by using water deflection to create fan-shaped sheets of water. The showerhead’s hidden nozzles generate single jets of water that hit precisely-engineered surfaces to produce a wide, even shower spray with no gaps and enhanced droplet density.

Aurajet delivers up to 20% more total spray force* and twice the amount of skin contact* – yet uses as little water as nine litres per minute, continuing Methven’s commitment to savings on water and energy bills for consumers. With greater spray force and body coverage, the shower also offers a better feeling of warmth.
