Flame Heating Group is hoping to build on the £25,000 it has raised for good causes in the North East, after announcing Saras Hope Foundation as its chosen charity for 2019.
The Boldon-based heating and plumbing merchant will support and fundraise for the Foundation over the course of the year, having previously supported Fighting All Cancers Together (F.A.C.T.) in 2018.
Established in 2007 by Ged and Julie Hoburn, Saras Hope Foundation offers respite for children and young people with cancer and their families, which includes providing fully-funded holidays to create lasting memories with loved ones.
The charity was set up by the pair after their daughter, Sara, tragically passed away in 2001 at the age of 16, following a two-year battle with a rare and aggressive form of colon cancer.
Carol Bennett, Fundraising Manager of Saras Hope Foundation, said: "Saras Hope Foundation provides holiday breaks for children living with cancer and their families. We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to be in partnership with John and his team at Flame. As a small, local charity, corporate support is vital for Sara’s Hope to continue their work within the communities around them, working with families from the RVI in Newcastle means results are so visible and significant.
“Sara’s Retreat is a fantastic resource for families which allows them to enjoy time on their own and relax in a purpose-built villa without the hassle of arranging the holiday, with no cost to them, the break gives families special ‘family’ time together away from the traumatic cancer treatments and long hospital stays.”
Since 2016, Flame has raised in excess of £25,000 for charitable causes, which includes £9,290 for F.A.C.T. last year.
John Savage, Managing Director of Flame Heating Group, said: “We had a very positive 2018 and raised a significant amount of money for F.A.C.T. I now hope that can replicate this fundraising success for Saras Hope Foundation, which is another worthwhile and fantastic cause that supports so many families each year.”
To support its fundraising and charitable efforts, Flame has partnered with Change, a North East-based CSR consultancy and event management specialist involved in the third sector.
Danny Mitchell, Founder of Change, has helped to organise several of Flame’s charitable events in recent years. He possesses more than 12 years’ experience working with businesses and charities, helping to establish and develop their fundraising and CSR operations.
Danny added: "I am excited to be working with Flame on their CSR as they genuinely want to make a difference to their communities and John Savage is a Director who leads by example. Flame has already set great foundations of its charitable support and I look forward to building on this to create a bigger impact all round. The Flame family certainly do make a difference."
