GAMIFIED rewards and bonuses not only introduce an element of fun in to the workplace, but also increase employee performance – and according to new research, 52% of trades bosses are losing out on increased productivity by not making use of them.

The only industry that would have more increased productivity from the introduction of gamified rewards than Trades was Medical/Healthcare (56%), with Hospitality and leisure (51%) and Retail (50%) both close behind.

IPG today adds online to its services for independent plumbing, heating and bathroom specialists. From this month, members can upgrade their online presence with a professional, mobile-friendly website to help increase sales and in-store footfall, for less than the cost of a website design agency 

Earlier in the year, The IPG surveyed and held a workshop for their members on digital marketing. Following that insight, The IPG worked alongside designers and website developers to produce a package that will help members easily and affordably create a professional and bespoke package. The construction sector is being urged to create more apprenticeships and find ways to attract workers to the sector after new research found that over half of the UK population are struggling to hire a tradesperson.

 

The study by IronmongeryDirect, surveyed 1,000 people who have required the services of a trade professional over the past year. Results showed that for one in six people (16%), it took more than three weeks to find a suitable tradesperson, while 13% said it took up to two weeks, and almost a quarter (24%) had to search for a week to get someone on board.

Small Business Minister Confirms New Measures To Support Prompt Payment Code

Small Business Minister Margot James and Philip King, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management have confirmed new measures to support the Prompt Payment Code in a letter sent to the code’s signatories this week.

 

Over 1,800 firms have signed up to the Prompt Payment Code, agreeing to maximum payment terms of 60 days and a target payment time of within 30 days as part of their commitment to the fair and equal treatment of suppliers.

 

Under the code, companies whose payment terms stretch beyond 60 days must be able to demonstrate that exceptional circumstances apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
