Press thick-walled steel pipes quickly and securely with Megapress

Viega, the global market leader for metal piping systems, has introduced the innovative Megapress to the UK market. The carbon steel press fitting system offers a fast, effective alternative to traditional methods such as welding. A highly effective pressing method, Megapress connections can be made in less than seven seconds – helping to achieve a 60% reduction in installation time.

Compatible with heating and cooling systems, the Viega Megapress system is an effective tool for pressing pipework. This achieves a cleaner and safer method of connection and avoids the need for oils, heavy threading equipment or open flames. The simple to use pressing tool means that even difficult installations such as overhead pipework can be completed safely and effectively.

Using technology to get your evenings back

Benjamin Dyer of Powered Now examines the way that plumbers can get their evenings back with the help of technology, even if technology turns them off!

The mobile revolution

Looking back, it took a surprisingly long time for mobile phones to get to saturation. In fact, it took twenty years. During that long period, lots of people rubbished the phones and said they would never catch on. Every new technology that eventually becomes ubiquitous still goes through a period of disbelief.

In contrast to mobiles, smartphone penetration has been much quicker and the comparison should teach us some lessons.

ADEY rescues community heating system

Securing funding for large-scale community projects can be a thankless task, so when the 30 year-old heating and hot water system at Pheasey Community Hub in Walsall began to fail and needed replacing, ADEY Professional Heating Solutions stepped in to help.

A busy centre for local classes and events including a special needs group, the debilitating build-up of black magnetite sludge in the heating system had been causing significant problems, particularly during the winter months. With the system nearing collapse and costing the centre an overwhelming amount each month to maintain, the self-funded, volunteer-led group was unable to fund the work. An appeal was made to local installers and manufacturers to help fit a new system and supply the products needed.

Warmworld’s latest Intelligent Heating Control - Dataterm IHC

Tests have proven that Dataterm can save the end user some 25% on fuel spend per annum without any loss of comfort.

In the domestic market this is great but in the commercial market where controls are complex to understand and operate the Dataterm can literally pay for itself in as little as 12 – 18 months making savings on fuel spend in the thousands rather than hundreds, one of our larger clients has already proved that when they refurbished many of their pubs and restaurants.

~ How kitchen installers can easily overcome common installation issues ~

In 2015 approximately 594,000 people in the UK alone spent over £4,000 on a fitted kitchen. Homeowners are increasingly prioritising the renovation of their kitchen over other areas of the house due to a rise in the popularity of open plan living and multifunctional spaces. With such an increase in demand, meeting increasingly difficult design requirements can often feel like putting together the pieces of a puzzle.

Here John Cove, marketing manager at power tool accessories and hand tool specialist, Starrett, shares his top tips for improving installation methods and quality of finish by using jig saw blades.
